THE West Muskerry U12 girls came first in the All-Ireland Cross-Country Championship in Athboy, Co. Meath, recently.
The team had three girls from the Parish Sarah Kelleher and Aoife Twomey from Rusheen and Meabh O'Riordan Ballinagree. Sarah also got a silver All Ireland medal with Cork. The girls would like to thank their coach Collette O'Riordan for all her hard work with the girls and indeed with the club.
I promise you wont hear anymore about the Mayor's Ball until next year, but what a fantastic night it was.
To say it was jampacked was putting it mildly everybody that wanted to dress up came in fabulas costumes and the craic was mighty lovely finger food was served to the masses.
Eddie O'Gorman played his heart out, a free raffle was held with lots of prizes, and the Mayor and her Deputy were very charming as they welcomed their guests.
Over 55s Christmas Party hosted by Mayor Rita will be held in the Ploughman Bar Ballinagree next Sunday, December 2, at 2pm.
If you are just turned 55 you are welcome and if you have a bit of vat attached you are very welcome too.
There will be a cold lunch, with desert and smashing baking, then dance the evening away with Mike Helen and Southern Pride.

The Comhaltas Group of Aghinagh and Kilnamartyra will play for the Residents of Care Choice Macroom on Saturday next, December 1, and will entertain the residents of Mount Desert Lee Road on Sunday, December 2; Breathnach's, Coachford, on Friday, December 7, and Christmas session in Murray's, Macroom, on Tuesday, December 11.
Rusheen N.S are holding their Bring and Buy in the School on Sunday next, December 2, after 11am Mass. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
There was a very big crowd in the Laine Bar, Ballinagree, last Sunday night for the launch of Aghinagh G.A.A. lotto.
The Chairman Tadgh Twohig thanked all ticket sellers and everybody who bought yearly and weekly tickets. The first draw of the night was for €500 for all paid up yearly tickets, the winner was John O'Leary, Dromduve, and the ticket was drawn by Club President Dan O'Connor.
Then it was on to the main jackpot which was €1,000 this week, Mayor of Ballinagree Rita O'Sullivan drew the three numbers 2, 14 and 39. There was no winner.
Five consolation prizes were drawn: €50 - Alan and Mary Browne, Rylane; €20 - Mary Healy, Carrigatrou; €20 - Patrick and Mgt O'Riordan, Shanakiel; €20 - Martin Hubbard, Inchalea; €20 - Donagh McCarthy, Castleview.
Next week's draw will take place in the Ploughman Bar, Ballinagree, on Sunday night, December 2, at 9.30pm.
