A REWARDING season for clubs will be recapped at the Duhallow Junior GAA Board Convention in the Kanturk GAA Clubrooms on Monday night. 2012 marked a productive year where the fortunes of Duhallow clubs and division enjoyed a roller coaster of emotion and mixed fortunes.
Divisional Secretary Steven Lynch will relate to delegates that a number of clubs fulfilled significant ambitions on landing county honours.
The success of Rockchapel in Junior A Football and Castlemagner at Junior B Hurling emerged as the highlights while there was heartbreak for two divisional teams and Kanturk in county finals.
The division is indebted to the sponsorship of the primary competitions through the key involvement of Ducon Concrete in the Junior A Football League, Kanturk Credit Union for the Junior A Hurling League and Junior A Football Championship, EPS Bison in the Junior A Hurling Championship and the North Cork Co-Op for the support of divisional teams.
276 competitive games were played as were 225 games at underage level within the division, co-ordinated by a Primary School sub committee. Poor weather through the summer and into the latter end of the season saw another decrease in gate receipts.
The 2013 Duhallow Junior Board will comprise of President: Frank Healy (Kanturk); Chairman: Richard Murphy (Banteer/Lyre), Vice-chairman: Joe Kerins (Kanturk); Secretary: Steven Lynch (Boherbue); Treasurer: Tony McAulliffe (Lismire); Development Officer: Seán McAulliffe (Kilbrin); Cultural Officer: Jerry Doody (Millstreet); PRO John Tarrant (Millstreet); County Board Delegates: Dan Joe Murphy (Rockchapel) and Richard Murphy (Lyre).
There are no motions on the agenda for convention.
