DROUGH, Mitchelsrown amateur jockey Paul O'Brien, who is attached to the Charlie Mann stables at Lambourne in England, scored his second win since joining that stable recently, at Fakenham on Monday, on 7/2 chance He Owns Me in the 2ml 7f handicap hurdle.
The pair defeated fellow Cork jockey Jeremiah McGrath, from Waterfall, on First Lieutenant by half a length in a thrilling finish.
O'Brien produced a cracking riding performance here, and watching him closely one would never know that he was a most talented amateur, looking so professional and neat.
Well placed from the outset, O'Brien pressed the leaders and went to the front at the ninth. Headed after three out, he regained the lead two out but despite being headed at the last, the winner showed his class and strength to stay on powerfully, under a splendid drive from the saddle to win narrowly.
