REBEL OG UNDER 15 C
KISKEAM took the 12-aside Rebel Og Under-15 C FC title at Doneraile on Sunday when they proved too crafty for Grenagh.
It was a keenly contested game all through. Grenagh lacked scoring power relying mainly on Graham Murphy who kicked 7 of their 10 points. Kiskeam's Sean O'Sullivan was in great form and his accuracy proved vital over the hour. Grenagh started well having plenty of possession.
They had 3 points in the opening 12 minutes by Graham Murphy (two frees) and Brian O'Connell. Gradually the Kiskeam side got to terms, their defence improved greatly and O'Sullivan was very accurate up front.
The winners had their goal in the 2lst minute when Kieran O'Connor worked well for Sean Meehan to goal. They led from here to the end. O'Sullivan added a pointed free that gave his side an interval lead 1-4 to 0-3.
Grenagh tried very hard to get back in contention. Both sides exchanged points with the lead down to a goal after 41 minutes 1-5 to 0-5. Kiskeam played out the better football and when Sean Meehan placed Sean O'Sullivan for a massive point from near the sideline they were on their way. Graham Murphy replied with a free.
The all important score came in the 49th minute when a free by O'Sullivan was deflected into the net off a defender. It opened up a two goal lead. O'Sullivan followed with three more points while Grenagh who battled to the end had four late points by Graham Murphy (3) and Jason Murphy.
Time ran out and it was Kiskeam who held out for a 5 point win. After the game Noel O'Neill PRO Rebel Og Northern Region presented the cup to the winning captain Jack O'Connor.
