PARK UTD now have a major battle ahead to try and hold on to their Premier Division status after Macroom laid claim to all the points in Brigownon Saturday last.

After an indecisive opening period this game came to life with 20 minutes gone when the visitors were awarded a controversial penalty, with Park screaming the foul came outside the box. And Macroom goal-getter Keith Holden beat Ian Fitzgibbobfrom the spot, albeit via the post, to make it 1-0.

Park dominated the remainder of the half, but it was the same old cliche of spurned chances. A sweeping move saw Eamon O'Sullivan through on goal, but in a oneon-one situation he hesitated and the keeper advanced to block with his knees. Two further efforts from Dave Dineen were tame and the keeper on both occasions came to collect.

In the second half Park got going quicker than their opponents and the omens looked good for an equaliser.

However, it was to prove to be a frustrating half as chances came and went. Eugene O'Callaghan has a rasping shot come off the crossbar on 75 minutes and when Tony Graham played Darren Lynch through minutes later he miscued from all of six yards.

As Park brought on fresh legs an threw everything they had had Macroom with barely two minutes left they we were punished. When a conter-attacking Macroom broke the offside trap Anthony O'Donoughue made no mistake from all of three yards and sealed the points at 2-0.
