Good start to the soccer season

AUL Premier League Castleview 2, Macroom A 3 MACROOM A got their Premier League season started with a hard fought win over Castleview.

The home side were dominant in the first half, converting their chances to take a two goal lead going into the break. However, the second half saw the away side come out fighting, and James O'Connor got one back early with a well taken finish.

Seán Kiely equalised on 71, when he found space to arrow his effort into the corner. It was that man O'Connor who got the winner for Macroom, with minutes remaining. Saxone Cup first round Macroom B 2, Shandon Celtic 3 MACROOM B went out of the Saxone Cup at the first hurdle in disappointing fashion.

Macroom B's goals came from two penalties, one converted by Noel Leahy and one from Pádraig Harrington halfway through the second half. Schoolboys League & Youths Update A GOOD weekend for our Schoolboys teams. Macroom U14's had a comprehensive 8-1 victory over Kanturk, with John Martin Lehane and Olan O'Leary getting a brace each.

Macroom U16 mirrored the Macroom A junior side by getting a win against Castleview.

Macroom Youths recorded an excellent victory, beating Wilton at home 2-1. After a goalless first half, Shane Lynch and a cracker from Dylan Cotter grabbed the points.
