Games cancelled as mark of respect to Howards

ALL games involving Fermoy MSL teams were cancelled last weekend as a mark of respect to the Howard family, Fermoy, on the recent death of Mrs Carmel Howard, wife of Fermoy Club chairman Billy Howard, originally from Castletownroche.
The late Carmel was a member of a very well known and respected family the O'gorman's, of Castletownroche. Billy himself is also very well known in Fermoy where as well as being a noted soccer player and club official, he was also a very prominent Gaelic player a few years ago, and their son Paul also plays both codes in Fermoy.
The late Carmel was very well known in the town where she was involved in a number of groups, she was very well liked by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and her death, even after a long illness, came as a severe shock not alone to Billy, Paul and daughter Nicole and her mother, but to all in the towns of Fermoy, Ballyhooley and Castletownroche.
This was reflected in the huge turn out at her removal and Funeral Mass after which she was laid to rest in Kilcrumper Cemetery. The guard of honour was provided by members of the Fermoy Soccer Club.
To Billy, Paul, Nicole and her mother Mrs O'gorman, her grand-daughter Aoibhe, her brother and sister, relatives and friends, we offer our sympathy
