The Ladies Football Club had a fantastic celebration when the Under 8s donned the coveted Green and White to represent their club against Kilshannig on the main pitch in Kilroe on on Saturday morning.
With the sun shining on all who attended this glorious event, the Kanturk and Kilshannig Clubs marked the occasion by providing drinks and treats for the girls and their parents.
The determination from both teams and the excitement of their parents and mentors rivalled anything that was on the television over the weekend. The skills and the sportsmanship of those so young demonstrate the wealth of coaching skills from the adults and the enthusiasm of all.
The under-8 players were: Eva Farrissey, Rhea O'Mahony, Grace O'Connor, Keri Carroll, Kiera Moloney, Edel Moore, Kiera Collins, Mackenzie Cashman, Lauren Lehane, Rachel Dineen and Molly Lynch.
The Under 10 teams also played to the delight of everyone, showing their finer understanding of the game to their younger counterparts. They were: Sarah O'Keeffe, Maegan Lehane, Ciera McCarthy, Kiera O'Connor, Eva Tully, Ava Walsh, Sarah Jordan, Emma O'Connor and Grace Fogarty.
Great thanks is due to the trainers of the underage teams - Emma Burke, Derbhla Kerins, Martin Farrissey and their helpers, Sinead Mullane, Louise Burke and Caoimhe Moore.
People are asked to please give as generously as possible to the girls as they try to fill their cards for a sponsored walk on Monday, 29th July, to raise funds to pay for new club gear. This is a great initiative that was suggested by the Under 14 team who have been very successful this year in competing in the County Féile Competitions and the County Championship. With each age group reaching new heights and achieving more, this is an excellent way to celebrate this determination. It will be a fantastic achievement for all the teams, from Under 8 to minor to be able to show their pride in their club by wearing their Green & White colours.
