Fermoy 3 Bandon 1 FERMOY'S Juniors finished off their league campaign with a home win over Bandon last Saturday. Although they had nothing to play for in the league, players were playing for a spot on the team in the upcoming John Hayes Trophy final and the game was played at a good pace.
The home side played some nice football in the first half and could have gone in at the break in the lead but the post and the crossbar came to Bandon's aide.
Fermoy continued to play nice football in the second half and it wasn't long before they took the lead when a nice move was finished off by Mark Kenny heading in at the back post.
The second came not long after when Kalin Kelly saw his long range effort find the net. Fermoy then took their foot off the pedal and invited Bandon to attack more. However, they were to find Liam Coleman in top form in the Fermoy goal and he denied them a number of times with top class saves.
Bandon did pull one back with minutes remaining but Fermoy went straight up the other end and sealed the game with Adam Byrne scoring their third.
*The Fermoy Seniors face Leeds in a promotion play-off this Friday night in Midleton after both teams finished on equal points behind league winners College Corinthians. This promises to be a tight game as there was little between them in their league games with Fermoy winning 2-0 at home and losing 2-1 away.
They are appealing to as many club members and supporters to make the trip to Midleton on Friday to support the team.
