CORINTHIAN'S CUP Ballincollig 2 Buttevant A 4 THIS win put Buttevant into the second round of the Corinthian's Cup and it marked a wonderful start to the 2013 for the club. The introduction of three substitutes turned the game Buttevant's way with twenty minutes to play and the side finished the game at a canter.

Ballincollig took the lead after an even opening 20 minutes. Ten minutes later, John Paul Crowley's cross gave Derek Winters the chance to score Buttevant's equaliser. The visitors dominated the rest of the opening hour and went ahead when Jimmy Curtin squared a cross for Paul Mannix to net Buttevant's second.

Ballincollig equalised with twenty minutes to play but then had a player sent off for a second yellow card. At the same time, Buttevant introduced three substitutes whose fresh legs combined with numerical superiority and gave the visitors all the momentum. Michael Brogh was taken down for a penalty which Paul Mannix converted. Then, late in the game, Jimmy Curtin scored Buttevant's fourth on an opportunity created by Pa Egan's pacey run.

Meanwhile, Buttevant's third division team lost out 6-2 away to Greenmount Rangers in the same competition. Jack Casey scored both goals, the second an impressive diving header. Greenmount play two divisions higher and a win for Buttevant was against the odds.
