Ballincollig ladies get first points on the board

Riverstown 0 Ballincollig 2 BALLINCOLLIG got their first points on the board against Premier Division newcomers Riverstown, but made hard work of it. In the end the visitors had too much quality for the home side but were made to work hard for their victory.

Ballincollig scored a goal in each half courtesy of Sarah McCarthy and Shirley Desmond.

The home side had the Ballincollig goal under serious pressure at times though but they couldn't find the breakthrough that they needed. It was the contribution of Michelle McNally and Stephanie Murphy that tipped the balance in the 'Collig's favour with the new additions to the team also helping out.

Aileen O'Shea, Elaine O'Donoghue and Katie Buttimer all integrating well with the team.

Points on the board is what matters and Ballincollig are now off the mark. Long season left, but a positive start.
