Another difficult weekend on the weather front was again matched by the resilience and skill from the golfers at Mallow Golf Club last weekend as over 200 players battled the course and the conditions to record a host of remarkable scores.
The club not only hosted a 13-hole stableford competition from Friday to Sunday last but it also saw the tenth and final qualifying round of the winter league competition coming to a conclusion.
Eight of the 23 teams that took part in this annual event have now booked their spots in the quarter finals which will take place next weekend.
In singles action the weekend stableford competition took precedence with Conor Herlihy (14) taking the spoils with an impressive tally of 33 points.
Herlihy's heroics saw him claim victory by two points from second placed Philip Comyn (18) and Denis Harris (11) who finished second and third respectively, both with a tally of 31 points.
There was also success for the reigning Matchplay champion, Andy Daly (6) who took his first gross prize of the year with a level par round of 26 points.
The final prizes of the weekend went to PJ O'Sullivan (16), Eoin Aherne (11) and Michael Jennings (17) who claimed the Best Friday, Saturday and Sunday competitions with scores of 29, 30 and 31 points respectively.
