A MACROOM-based martial arts club has come through difficult times to land a host of medals at an All Ireland Championship.
Muskerry Judo Club - which successfully fought a High Court Challenge against its suspension by the sport's governing body - won a total of five gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the All Ireland 2014 event, held on Saturday, February 8 at The Watershed, Kilkenny.
Two of the gold medals were won by coaches Shane and Lloyd Manning, with Shane taking the 100kg title and Lloyd retaining his 73kg title.
Niamh Looney continued her successful spell, retaining her 48kg cadet title been selected for the Irish Sambo team in Lithuania were she took a bronze medal and named player of the day last December.
Niamh was one of five players from Muskerry Judo Club who were on the Irish team, and will now go and represent Ireland at the Junior European Sambo Championships, while Shane and Lloyd will also represent Ireland at the Senior European Sambo championships in May.
