IT was a hard-earned success.
THE tremendous work done by a small number of coaches attached to the handball club again received the moment of satisfaction in Ballydesmond on Sunday in the County B juvenile finals with all players involved winning out their contests.
First up was U9 doubles where Darragh Moynihan, Ruhill and Donal Murphy, Taur were winners over Conna at the end of three hectic tussles.
Then it was Darragh's older brother Liam who took the U12 singles title in two straight games.
B.J. Dunston and Aidan Linehan did likewise in the U13 doubles to round off a very successful afternoon.
To play this weekend are U12 double pair Anthony O'Connor and Darragh Ducey and the U14 doubles team of Alan O'Connor and Fintan O'Connor.
Last week we also saw one of the guiding lights in the club, Danny Lenihan, win the silver masters Munster title with a win over the Clare champion at Broadford while in the silver masters doubles competition Danny, partnered by Paul Kerins, Ballydesmond, recently defeated Tipperary at Galbally to reach the Munster decider against Limerick.
The All Ireland singles semi-final takes place Sunday March 9th.
We congratulate all involved and wish them continued success.
Meanwhile, this is the final week to purchase tickets for the monster draw which has some very attractive prizes with tickets only €10.
