A TELLING surge in the second half earned Millstreet victory away to Dromtariffe in the Ducon Cup.
The visitors came up with the answers after the break and their ability to create goal taking opportunities separated the sides. A nip and tuck affair surfaced at the outset, Dromtariffe shading matters territorially from the efforts of Seamus O'Sullivan, Shane and Colum Murphy. Going forward, Daniel O'Keeffe and Gearóid Murphy reeled off points.
Millstreet kept in touch with flags raised for Michael Vaughan and Tadgh Collins to trail 0-9 to 0-8 at the break. Though the sides traded points on the restart, Millstreet's intensity grew through the demands of Patrick Randles, Alan Murphy and Eamon O'Keeffe. Murphy came forward from midfield and a cracking shot came off the post only for the ball to be deflected into the net by a Dromtariffe defender. The momentum remained with Millstreet, Collins created the space for Murphy to add a second goal.
Dromtariffe's response needed to be effective and though O'Keeffe and Darren O'Connor chipped in with points, Millstreeet held out for a deserved win.
