U21s come from behind

THE Kanturk U21 footballers had to come from behind to fashion a 0-10 to 1-05 victory in the Duhallow championship first round played at Mallow on Wednesday, 19th February.

Kanturk can thank the accuracy of Mark Healy who converted 8 points of their total and steer his side into a semi final place, which will be played in late March.

Kanturk Intermediate footballers got their Division 4 league challenge up and running with a 2-14 to 0-10 home victory over Youghal on Sunday last 23rd February. Goals from Kieran Boyce and veteran Donagh Duane insured a Kanturk victory in their second outing of the season.

Wolfe Tones (Kanturk) get their Rebel Og Central U18 Prem2 league under way with a home tie against Mallow at the Freemount Road field on Saturday 1st March with a 3pm start.

Kanturk intermediate hurlers travel to Mallow on Sunday 2nd March to face Fr O'Neill's in their opening league tie with a 12 noon start. It is the first of two league outings for Kanturk who travel to Ovens a week later to face Eire Og on Sunday 9th March with an 11am start.

The early start is to facilitate players, mentors and supporters travelling to Pairc Ui Rinn for a double header of Cork senior teams in action with the footballers facing Derry at 12.45pm before the hurlers face Offaly later in the afternoon.

In a date for the diary, Kanturk GAA Cul Camp will be held from 30th June to 4th July 2014. Further details will be available shortly.
