Spillane's goal key to Kenmare victory

KENMARE withstood a tremendous late rally from Clonakilty before emerging worthy winners in a thrilling Credit Union Duhallow U20 Football Invitation Cup in Knocknagree.

A glorious spell of dominance yielded productive Kenmare dividends, prolific marksman Killian Spillane bagging a pair of first half goal that met with the satisfaction of his famous uncle and team coach Pat.

Spillane's double strike helped Kenmare to a 2-6 to 0-2 interval advantage. The woodwork denied Clon from the penalty spot upon the restart as Kenmare's hand strengthened to jump 14 points ahead.

But once Gearóid Barry did net a Clon penalty, the West Cork side thundered into the game with a refreshing drive and desire. Hard though as Clon battled to save the day, time ran out and it allowed Kenmare sample the spoils.
