Premier Championship in Muskerry is moving ahead

Last week in the Muskerry Division the under 21 Hurling Championship was very much centre stage and there were impressive victories recorded by both Aghabullogue and Innsiscarra. This week the remaining second round game in Junior Hurling will be decided when Ballincollig play Gleann Na Laoi at Ballinora on Friday at 7:30pm.

The draws for the remaining rounds of the Junior Football Championship took place at Coachford last Saturday evening so it will be all systems go in the Muskerry Championship scene in the coming weeks.

Last week's Under-21 Hurling Championship results indicate that we have some very exciting encounters too look forward to, before this competition reaches a conclusion. The two defeated clubs in the first rounds last week were the final contestants in 2016 so they will be anxious to make amends when they play in their second chance outing. This factor is bound to raise the competitiveness and the standard.

Returning to last week's games Aghabullogue gave a very impressive performance when they defeated title holders Ballincollig with Matt Bradley and Danno Duíniín being particularly impressive contributors to their victory. In the second game Eire Óg were unfortunate to be without the services of John Mullins and John Cooper while Inniscarra were boosted by the return to action of inter county player Sean O'Donoghue. Sean because of injury was unavailable for club duty with top teams in both codes recently. But he was clearly fully fit for the recent under 21 encounter when he played a huge role in Inniscarra's comprehensive victory.
