Lismire rise to dominate Cullen
Duhallow JBFC Semi-Final
LISMIRE rattled off a comprehensive win over Cullen in the Duhallow Junior B Football Championship Group 2 semi-final in Cullen last Sunday.
In a game that the victors seldom looked like losing after building up an eleven point advantage at the break, Lismire operated with a brand of open and attacking football. Direct from the off, Lismire enjoyed the best possible start, Cathal Noonan on the offensive to net in the opening attack. Steadily Cullen put together an improvement and drew encouragement from the efforts of Donal Bradley, Conor Kerins and Philip Murphy. And the home side prospects received a fillip from a Jonathan O'Leary goal.
However, Lismire picked up the tempo, the play of Pat O'Reilly, Colm and Cathal Noonan inspiring confidence. And as the Cullen defence switched off, Colm O'Connor nipped in to goal for a clear 2-9 to 1-1 advantage at the break.
Much a similar vein continued upon the restart, Lismire remaining in the driving seat with Brian O'Callsghan, Damien Finn and Cathal Noonnan chalking down points. Cullen attempted a recovery through points to Eoin O'Sullivan and Daniel Murphy.
Lismire refused to yield, their position coppenfastened on a well struck Denis Finn goal to confirm the triumphant side enjoying a definite advantage.
