Large turnout for the Humphrey Kelleher Cup

MILLSTREET played host to the Humphrey Kelleher Memorial U15 Football Cup Final on Saturday last.

The tournament remembered a great exponent in Millstreet and Cork football who helped Cork capture the 1973 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship title.

U15 county teams from Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford, Clare, Cork and Kerry participated. The preliminary rounds operated in Dromtariffe and Knocknagree with Kerry landing the outright spoils on a staging in Milstreet Town Park.

Millstreet Juvenile GAA helped co-ordinate the aftermoon programme in Millstreet and Maria Twomey from Millstreet Pipe Band led the pre match parade.

Mrs. Mai Kelleher presented the Humphrey Kelleher Cup to Kerry captain Daniel O'Brien.

Elsewhere on County Development teams, Shane Hickey and Padraig Moynihan played for Cork in the Munster U14 competition in Waterford and Cathal Crowley operated for Cork in the Munster U16 Tournament in Limerick.

On the field, Millstreet bettered Kilbrin in the Duhallow Junior A Football Championship in Rathcoole.

This week. the Millstreet Summer Camp operates and on Sunday, Millstreet Town Park hosts Knocknagree and Castlemagner in the Duhallow Junior A Football Championship at 7pm.
