Doneraile trainer John Joe Walsh continues to have his string in excellent winning form, and his winning run continued at Clonmel races on Thursday where he landed a touch with Whiskey and Rye, 5/1 to 7/2 fav, in the 2ml Minorstown handicap hurdle under a superb drive by Brian O'Connell.

Held up in touch, he closed into second before two out, and getting on terms with Fiery Oscar at the last, he stayed on well under pressure up the hill to the finish to win snugly by over two lengths.

Later in the day Davy Russell guided Savello for Meath trainer Tony Martin to a most impressive five-length win from Page Turner, while Carrigtwohill trainer Terence O'Brien combined with top amateur Pat Collins from Castlemartyr, to easily win the hunters chase on 14/1 chance Ibetellingyoualie.
