THE lead singer with critically acclaimed traditional Irish band Dervish, Kathy Jordan, is among a number of top artists lined up to play a series of concerts in Cobh over the coming days to mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

The Irish Gala Connections series of concerts are being staged in the town as part of the Titanic 100: Cobh 2012 initiative.

An Irish Connection will tell the story of emigration and the story of the ill-fated White Line liner's connection with Ireland through music and dance.

The series will also feature concerts by Cara O'sullivan, Catriona Fallon and Paul Byrom performing music composed by Brendan Graham, Shaun Davy, Victor Herbert, Mascagni, Gounod, Paddy Maloney and Johnny Duhan.

Suitable for all ages, the concerts will take place on the waterfront promenade in Cobh, the historic site where the last passengers boarded the Titanic before it set off across the Atlantic on its maiden voyage.

Tickets for the concerts, priced at €20, can be purchased from www.tickets.ie or at the Titanic Information Centre in Cobh.

Restricted viewing standing areas on the street adjacent to the concert will also be available at no charge.
