JOHNNY CASH has covered him, Bjork adores him, and he dressed up as a cop in an R Kelly video as well — don't miss the opportunity to witness a truly one of a kind performer as Bonnie 'Prince' Billy performs at Cork Opera House on February 1.
Will Oldham, AKA Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, is an American singer-songwriter and actor who has been releasing records for over 20 years, almost never under his own name. From 1993 to 1997, he performed and recorded as the Palace Brothers, Palace Songs, and Palace Music.
He then adopted the 'Bonnie 'Prince' Billy' moniker for the majority of his output since 1998. Oldham is known for his 'do-it-yourself' punk aesthetic and the honesty of his work. He makes music that is a mix of Americana, folk, roots, country, punk, indie-rock and whatever you're having yourself.
A true individual, his unforgettable voice has been described as 'a fragile sort-of warble frittering around haunted melodies.'
Tickets for Bonnie 'Prince' Billy are €25 and are available from the Cork Opera House box office on 021 427 0022 or via www.corkoperahouse.com.
