THE Mitchelstown Walking Festival is to take place this Bank Holiday weekend.

Organised by the Bishopstown Hillwalking Club to celebrate 20 years of the organisation, the festival is set to take in walks in the Galty, Knockmealdown and Ballyhoura Mountains.

One of the largest hillwalking clubs in Ireland, the club organizes walks every weekend for all levels of ability & fitness.

There will be a family Orienteering Introduction Event and Competition event on Easter Sunday April 20 at Green Wood, Ardpatrick, also known as the location fo the Mountain Bike Trails Centre, and participants are invited to turn up anytime between 11am and 2pm.

Registration is essential and the Firgrove Hotel in Mitchelstown and the Deebert House Hotel in Kilmallock will be the two main registration centres - depending on starting locations for the walks.

Accommodation is available in the area at very competitive rates and for all details and registration forms please go to the web site www.mitchelstownwalkingfestival.net.

The walks will be graded from A (Fast Pace, Strenuous, Duration up to 7hrs) to D (Easy, Easy Pace, Duration up to 4hrs, Mainly on the flat, tracks and paths) and all walks are guided with leaders and co-leaders appointed by the Bishopstown Hillwalking Club.
