COMMUTERS on the Cork to Dublin train can expect extra va va voom from next week as the journey will be 20 minutes faster.
Iarnrod Eireann is promising journey time improvements to "most Dublin to Cork services of between five to 20 minutes" - kicking in on Sunday, January 20.
However, the 5.05am Cork to Dublin will no longer operate, but the current 6.15am service will be brought forward to 6am with an arrival time to Heuston at 8.30am.
There will also be an additional service from Cork to Dublin at 19.20pm.
Most services from Cork to Dublin will depart at 20 minutes past the hour instead of 30 minutes past the hour. The exception to this will be departures from Cork at 6am, 7am and 8am.
This is to facilitate the improved journey times and to ensure connections from Kerry and Limerick can continue to be efficient.
Also coming down the track, a new services will operate from Mallow to Cork at 07:29am. And there's a later, final service from Cork to Mallow at 11pm.
