THE streets of Charleville were turned pink by Lee's Centra Group in aid of the Irish Cancer Society's Action Breast Cancer last week.

The local Centra retailers, Ray and Brendan Lee hosted a Pink Walk which saw women, children and families alike take to the street to raise much needed funds for the charity while increasing awareness. Over 150 local people donned pink and pounded the pavements of Charleville in a 7km walk through the town. The total amount raised is yet to be confirmed with donations still coming in; it is expected the charity initiative will raise over €5000.

"Our local pink walk was a huge success this year; it is a testament to the people of the locality who show real community spirit and drive much needed funds for a cause that touches so many people's lives," said Ray Lee.

Forty Centra stores in Cork will host a pink walk during October – with over 200 Centra stores across the country taking part. For those who would like to take part in any of Cork's pink walks, just visit your local participating Centra store, register and get walking.
