The North Cork Roses come to town

Some of the entrants in the Cork Rose of Tralee heat from the North Cork area who were in Geary's Bar Charleville.

THERE was a multitude of pulchritude in Geary's Bar on Sunday night last as six entrants from the North Cork area, who will participate in this year's Cork heat of the Rose of Tralee contest, were in Charleville.

The girls, who will be among the 50 entrants hoping to win the coveted spot in the final of the Rose of Tralee in the Cork heat on the Saturday the 22nd June, were accompanied by the organiser for North Cork Ms Bernadette Moloney, who hails from nearby Ballyhea.

"We already have lovely girls from the area but we are still open to accept more entrants to represent North Cork in the finals of the Cork heat this year, which will take place in the Silversprings Hotel in Cork over two nights on the 21st and 22nd June," said Bernadette.

The entrants in Charleville on Sunday night were Valerie Wheeler from Charleville who will represent St. Joseph's Foundation Charleville, Elaine McCarthy ( Carebright Homecare), Nicole McDonagh (Westward Cleaners, Ballincollig), Jennifer Coakley (Acquired Brain Injury Ireland), Katie Lordan (Newtownshandrum G.A.A.) and Ciara Twomey (The Bailey Bar, Cork). One entrant, Marian Cullinane has yet to be allocated a sponsor for the competition.
