THE 45 students from Scoil Mhuire in Kanturk were certainly practising the proverb that the "early bird catches the worm" as they wasted no time in picking up their results early on Wednesday.
Despite the sun going into hiding and specks of rain falling from the sky, it didn't deter the joyous mood at the school.
Principal Miriam Downey said: "20% of our students scored 500 or more points and just shy of 50% scored in excess of 400 points. The students are simply thrilled and we are thrilled for them."
While CAO offers are not due out until Monday, she said that students were venturing down the dentistry, nursing, computers and engineering routes as well as national school teaching.
She sincerely thanked in excess of 20 teachers at the school along with the parents of the students who worked as a team throughout the study year.
"The students worked so hard and great credit must go to them, but equally so did the staff and the wonderful support from the parents," she said.
