Something must be done about GAA entrance

AFTER listening to a few readers complaints in regard to the conditions to the entrance to Bishop Casey Memorial GAA grounds in Mallow Town Park, this writer decided a quick visit to the area was the proper action to follow up on this issue.
The entrance is very dilapidated with overgrown weeds and gates left rusting and very much unattended. I spoke to Mallow GAA, Mallow Town Council and Mallow Tidy Towns regarding this problem and all groups had very genuine answers, yet they admitted they were concerned with the entrance conditions.
But who must now grasp the nettle and solve this long ongoing eyesore.
Mallow GAA in recent years has a state of the art home in Carrigoon but it must be remembered all this was born and bred in Mallow Town Park where many an epic stuggle took place not just on the pitch but off of it also.
My motto is enjoy the presence but let's not forget our heritage and our past.
