More than 3,000 visitors are expected into Millstreet next week for the European Juggling Convention hosting in the Green Glens International Complex. Returning to Millstreet for the first time since 2006, the event has been running since 1978 when 11 jugglers convened in Brighton, UK, growing steadily to become a huge festival of juggling, spinning and aerial acrobatics, hosting a wide array of activities in circus arts.
The festival will run in Millstreet from Saturday July 19 to Sunday July 27, with events such as juggling and circus arts workshops, skill-sharing and games are programmed for the multi purpose venue.
The staging climaxes on Saturday, July 26 with a The Gala Show hosted on the main stage in the Green Glens with performances from many of the worlds' most talented and respected circus and juggling artists. Tickets will be available at the Green Glens arena box office.
Additionally, a full-scale circus show is hosted every evening of the festival with additional performances and workshops from circus artists and jugglers of International renown throughout the week.
Also on Saturday, July 26 a parade through Millstreet Town will form part of the organisers' ethos in thanking the Millstreet community for hosting the Convention. That will allow further engagement with the wider community and is typically greeted with great enthusiasm and joy.
The parade will end in Millstreet Town Park, outside of the ticket-controlled festival area where the local community and the attendees proceed with the 'Juggling Olympics', the circus skills games which mark one of the final events of the week long festival.
