RESPECTED Glenlara GAA personality Den Sheahan couldn't believe his luck when he scooped the first prize of a new car in the Cork GAA Clubs Draw.

Holding a long association with the Duhallow based club, Den is a keen advocate of the long established draw and co-ordinated the fundraiser in his capacity as a former club secretary. "I'm thrilled to win a prize — the first ever prize won by myself from a draw that I've supported down through the years", he said. Den accepted the keys of the Kia Rio car at a presentation ceremony in Colemans of Millstreet, where those present included Glenlara club officers Jeremiah Roche, Conor Fitzpatrick and Ger Murphy, draw co-ordinator Seamus Coughlan and John Coleman. The prize winning recipient is no stranger to the GAA scene within Duhallow — Den served as Secretary to Glenlara club for more than forty years and emerged as a respected referee. "Remaining involved, Den is selector to the Glenlara junior football side and his tireless work continues through co-ordinating the weekly 45 card drive that remains a popular fund raiser to Glenlara club", said Chairman Jeremiah Roche. These are exciting times for Glenlara GAA, which is currently embarking on a €100,000 development of its GAA ground at Glash in a project supported by the lottery funding. "The new playing field has made great strides and hopefully, the project will be completed by September", said Mr. Roche.
