New amenities for Lismire welcomed
Energetic Lismire residents will be pumping the iron at their brand new outdoor gym while the more laid back members of the community can sit and watch the world go by from the newly developed picnic area, both of which were blessed and declared open by Canon Jackie Corkery last Sunday afternoon.
Lismire Community Association chairperson Sheila Kearney welcomed all who attended the opening ceremony. "We want to thank IRD Duhallow for their financial backing for this amenity, without their support the project could not have gone ahead," Sheila said, adding: "Thanks also to Eugene McAuliffe of McClane Building Services who carried out all the work on the new facilities".
A full programme of activities followed the opening, including a trip down memory lane with a selection of old photographs as well as the screening of footage from the 1991 Lismire School Reunion.
The children were in their element having their faces painted, and meeting all the wonderful creatures owned by Brendan of The Animal Roadshow.
Live traditional music in the community hall on Sunday evening provided the final note in what was a perfect Day of the Region in Lismire.
