Muskerry Hunt Club hosting charity horse racing meeting

THE Muskerry Hunt Club is to offer Cork city the thrill of horse racing for the first time in 100 years in aid of charity.

The club is to host a meeting this Saturday, November 2 at the Munster Agricultural Society's new showgrounds at Curraheen, Bishopstown and an adjoining property, owned by UCC.

The first race of the Muskerry Hunt Point to Point Racing Carnival starts at 12pm at the new track.

The event brings racing back to Cork for the first time since the old Cork Park Race Course was closed in 1917 to make way for the Henry Ford Tractor plant and the former Show Grounds in Ballintemple.

Bar facilities, food and children's entertainment will be provided on site and proceeds from the day will go to Cork Cancer Research.
