Mid Cork comes up trumps

MID Cork was the big winner at the annual Oireachtas festival, which was held in Killarney last week.

The festival, which celebrates the best of sean-nós dancing, singing and storytelling took place in the INEC last week and saw a number of strong performances from locals.

Amongst the first prize winners were Seosamh Ó Criodáin, Siobhán Ní Mhuineacháin and Seán Ó Muineacháin from Coolavokig, Macroom, who took top spot in the Sketch competition with Aisteoirí Chill na Martra, while Seosamh Ó Críodáin and Seán Ó Muimhneacháin also won the Amhrán Saothair.

Other locals placed highly in the judge's rankings.
