THE hugely popular Barry Group sponsored Mallow Business Awards are set to make a welcome return this year after a 12-month hiatus.
Traditionally one of the highlights of the Mallow social calendar, the glittering awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 29, the same night as the Mallow Chamber Ball.
While the details of this years awards have yet to be finalised, Mallow Chamber spokesman Pat O'Sullivan promised they would be as exciting as ever.
"The fine details such as the different award categories will be finalised over the coming weeks and we expect to formally launch the 2014 awards in early September," said Mr O'Sullivan.
He maintained the decision to hold the awards every two years instead of annually was the right one to take.
"It was felt that Mallow was too small to hold an initiative such as this each year. The current format will invigorate the awards, generating an air of excitement and anticipation making them that little bit extra special," said Mr O'Sullivan.
He said that with the Mallow Streetscape project nearing completion a sense of confidence was returning to the town, which has been bolstered by the major expansion plan for the Dairygold.
"The awards are all about celebrating Mallow and highlighting all that is positive about being in business in the town. With new businesses opening up this year combined with the other major developments in the town, this is a very exciting time for Mallow," said Mr O'Sullivan.
"It is wonderful that one of Mallow's biggest success stories, The Barry Group, will once again be sponsoring the initiative," he added.
