MALLOW town councillors will hold their first meeting of 2013 next Monday evening at 6pm to vote on the council's budget for the year ahead.
This will be followed at 7pm by the statutory monthly meeting of the council.
This promises to be a lively affair as the first item on the January agenda will be to receive a deputation from local people who will voice their opposition to the controversial household charge.
Councillors will also be putting a number of notices of motion before the meeting in relation to a number of issues.
These will include a motion from Cllr Willie O'Regan (SF) calling on the council to seek permission from the Department of Environment to transfer local authority tenants who are willing to undertake works themselves where the authority cannot provide funding to bring houses up to standard.
A motion from Cllr Jerry Mullally (Lab) will ask that the council to examine the feasibility of providing traffic calming measures at Plunkett Terrace.
Cllr Ronan Sheehan (Lab) will ask council management to investigate illegal dumping on Davis/Flemings Lane and that the authority takes in charge Castle Park estate.
