HUNDREDS of guests got lost down the rabbit hole last Saturday as The Castle Hotel, Macroom, was transformed into a wonderland of glitz and glamour for the Mad Hatter's Black Tie Ball.
Guests on the night enjoyed a four-course meal, were entertained by MC Kevin Keenan and danced the night away to musical guests Baseline and DJ Peter Moynihan.
Meanwhile, Mr. simms Olde Sweet Shoppe, Macroom sponsored a sweet buffet fit for the queen of hearts.
The event was held in aid of Help Them Hope, a charity based in Lima, Peru that assists students with disabilities become more independent through higher education opportunities, peer support, independent living classes, and career guidance. The centre is run by Carlow man John Whelan.
Aoife Croinin and Laura Butler, organisers of the event, said that over €3,500 was raised for the good cause.
"The money raised is going to such a worthy cause. John and all the team at Help them HOPE do such fantastic work. The money raised will give them the opportunity to help bring more students into their programmes and allow for more services to be available," said the girls.
"We wanted people to have a fantastic time and enjoy all the mad hatter had in store for his guests, but to also be informed about what their kind donations will be used for."
