Macroom collection day for ARC
CORK ARC Cancer Support House is appealing for people in Macroom to support Cork ARC Cancer Support House on their annual Flag Day this Friday.
A large group of dedicated volunteers will be giving their time freely to allow Cork ARC to raise much needed funds and increase awareness about the services it provides.
Cork ARC Cancer Support House is a voluntary organisation and registered charity providing a safe haven where people with cancer and their families can find practical help and emotional support.
In 2013 Cork ARC received approximately 4,000 visits from people affected by cancer. They availed of their services which include drop in & telephone support, counselling, therapeutic massage and reflexology, support groups, education and information programmes and a wide range of group programmes such as art therapy, meditation, t'ai chi and yoga.
"Please remember on Friday that all our collectors are volunteers. Hopefully their generosity of spirit will be rewarded by a warm reception from the public," said Hilary Sullivan, Head of Fundraising / Corporate Affairs at Cork ARC Cancer Support House.
"We are very grateful to all of our Volunteers and the people of Macroom for their continued support. The fact that our services are free of charge is of great benefit to people with cancer and their families in this financial climate.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to assure all of our supporters that all funds received by Cork ARC are used directly for the provision of cancer support services for our visitors."
