Joanne set to light up Christmas in Cork

INSPIRATIONAL Millstreet teen Joanne O'Riordan will be this year's special guest to help the Lord Mayor Cllr John Buttimer light up St. Patrick Street on Friday, November 16 at 6.30pm.

Thousands of lights will be turned on in Cork to kick- start festivities across the city. This will be preceeded by on-stage performances of Cork Chamber Choir to get Corkonians in the festive spirit at 6.15pm before the big switch on, followed by performances from the Cork Youth Orchestra and the Cork Male Voice Choir.

There will be a special visit from Santa Claus as well as characters from Cork Opera House Christmas Panto Alice in Wonderland and The Everyman Theatre Panto, Little Red Riding Hood who will also be on hand to give the kids a taster of the festive treats ahead this December in Cork.

Following on from last year's success, the Christmas Markets will return to Grand Parade this year, opening at weekends from the November 30 and then every day from December 13 to 23.
