A MALLOW woman who has now made West Cork her home has been shortlisted for the annual Munch Time Short Story Writing Competition.
Elaine Dennehy's story was chosen from a huge volume of entries. She has two children, Isabelle who is seven and Charlie who is three and she said as a family, one of their most precious times is the bedtime story time.
"My children love to hear stories and after reading hundreds of children's books over the years I began creating my own adventures for my children," she said.
When she heard about the Munch Bunch short story writing competition, she thought that it was her chance to put pen to paper.
"Munch the cow was a great character to work with and she took the starring role in stories that I regularly make up for my children," she said.
Elaine said that she is delighted at being shortlisted. The 10 stories which have all been put forward are have been open for the public to vote on their favourite story up until midnight on Wednesday.
Munch Time Ireland will award the winner €1,000 and two runners up will also be selected from the public votes and will receive a cash prize of €500.
Elaine lives in Rosscarbery, and is a project co-ordinator with CIT and is currently studying for a Ph.D.
Now Elaine is hoping she's received plenty votes for her story, 'Munch and Belle's Riddle'.
