THE nation might be struggling to move outdoors after the festive season and shake a leg, but for one Cork man doing a marathon is just a walk in the park.
Olympic athlete Rob Heffernan is urging everyone to make it their New Year's resolution to get fit. At the launch of the Cork city marathon in City Hall last week, Rob and his wife Marian were announced as the ambassadors of the Cork city marathon which takes place over the bank holiday in June.
Rob who is Ireland's placed athlete in track and field at the Olympics 2012 said the marathon in June is a great way to get involved in one of the biggest sporting events in Cork.
"Signing up to do the Cork city marathon is the perfect New Year's resolutions, whether you run, walk or jog it, the race is accessible to everyone," he said.
Marian said the buzz around Cork has always been fantastic. "Everyone should experience crossing that finishing line at least once in their life," she said.
