Donal takes over the chair at Chambers

MALLOW has passed the baton to Midleton with the election of the new chairperson of Cork Regional Chambers.

At its annual general meeting at the Cork Racecourse Mallow, Cork Regional Chambers elected Mr Donal Kelleher as chair for the coming year.

Donal, of Kelleher & Associates Ltd, is president of Midleton and Area Chamber, and is responsible for managing the Fáilte Ireland tourism office in Midleton.

He is a former director of SECAD, director of Ballintotis Community Council, member of the Midleton Joint Police Committee (JPC), former chair of Midleton Community Forum, and has participated in various food, arts, and trade festivals, including the Working Together Foundation, which Midleton Chamber are currently supporting for the benefit of named charities and the local community.

Speaking after his election, Donal expressed his thanks to outgoing chair, Maura Hunter of Mallow Chamber, and to the chamber members for their nomination. "I am looking forward to my term of office as chair and to working with the other chambers in the Cork region over the next 12 months," Mr. Kelleher said. "The chamber movement is a powerful lobbying group and represents businesses in order to support their interests locally and nationally."

The Cork Regional Chambers consists of Cork, Cobh & Harbour, Charleville, Clonakilty, Kanturk, Mallow and Midleton & Area Chambers. Representatives from these chambers meet regularly to discuss and move forward issues of common interest in the region.
