Cork North West TD Áine Collins (FG) has welcomed the announcement of €95,000 for local community projects in Millstreet, Charleville, Banteer, Kanturk and Newmarket from the Cork County Council Community Fund.

Deputy Collins said the continued funding of local initiatives offers social outlets for local people and helps to promote civic and community pride.

An allocation of €37,500 goes to the Millstreet Tidy Towns and Tourism Association has generated a popular response.

"Community groups, sporting and local organisations, to whom the funds are allocated, are the lifeblood of communities."

"They work tirelessly to encourage a sense of community spirit and pride through the projects they undertake," she added.
