Camogie glory for Community School

Millstreet Community School cloaked themselves in glory after capturing a classic South Munster Junior Camogie Championship to overcome Ardscoil Ris of Dungarvan 3-10 to 2-5 after extra time in Castle Road, Cork.
Crucially in the added time, Millstreet operated at a slicker pace and unloaded lots of endeavour to take the accolades.
Testing conditions and a breeze made producing quality fare difficult yet credit both sides on making a fist of it.
At different stages, the pendulum swung one way and then the other direction. But from the delicately balanced nature of a gripping clash, Millstreet capitalised on their possession and swept home deserving winners.
Favoured by the breeze, Millstreet took encouragement from the safe handling of netminder Maria Lane and two pointed frees by Maire Ellen O'Connor. Gradually Dungarvan came more into the picture and gained a slender lead from a goal.
Millstreet responded smartly, and Una Buckley netted followed by a Dervla Murphy point. Back came the Dungarvan girls and a goal switched the initiative to their favour on leading 2-1 to 1-2 at the break.
Millstreet stepped up the tempo upon the restart, prompted by the grafting efforts of Sarah Dennehy, Megan Kiely, Lauryrn Kiely Donna Reilly and Chloe Collins. Going forward, Maire Ellen slotted over five points including the equaliser that took the game into extra time at 2-5 to 1-8.
Into added time, the game belonged to an all round competent Millstreet outfit.
And their efforts were rewarded on a grinding Millstreet effort that wore down a tiring Dungarvan that yielded Una Buckley a pair of excellent goals with O'Connor adding back to back points.
Despite Ardscoil's brave efforts, Millstreet had enough in reserve to secure provincial honours.
The winning Millstreet team lined out as Maria Lane, Emily Ring, Sarad Dennehy, Megan Ring, Joni Tarrant, Donna O'Reilly, Caroline Murphy, Chloe Collins, Robin Sheehan, Dervla Murphy 0-1, Maire Ellen O'Connor 0-9, Una Buckley 3-0, Elmarie Kelleher, Ava Barry, Lauryn Kiely; subs. Leah Guerin, Grace O'Connor, Katie Hickey, Rachel O'Brien.
