BALLYHOURA Macra kick-started the build-up to its 10th anniversary dinner dance with a launch at the Firgrove Hotel on Monday night.
The club will be celebrating its ten year anniversary on Saturday, August 23 with a dinner dance at the Firgrove.
"This dinner dance is a good opportunity for past members to reunite and celebrate 70 years of Macra," said club PRO Aisling O'Driscoll.
The event will kick off with a drinks reception at 7pm which will be followed by a tasty four course dinner at 8pm. The night's entertainment will commence with music by the Waxies and the night will draw to a close with a DJ.
Guests speaking on the night will include Macra na Feirme's National Presiedent Kieran O'Dowd.
"This will be a huge event which will draw members of past and present from local and far, and we welcome every member of the community," said Aisling.
The club will be celebrating many achievements including soccer, senior debating, public speaking as well as many successful events which took place over the years.
"We would like if anyone has past photos of memories of their time with Ballyhoura Macra and you can contact Maria on 086 3653484 if you can give some photos. All photos will be returned in perfect condition," Aisling added.
Tickets for the event cost €30, and you can contact Ciara on 086 0594490 for tickets or more information.
The club combined the launch night with a series of presentations.
The first presentation was a cheque for €644.62 to brave sky diver Eoin Fenton for Muscular Dystrophy Ireland.
This money was raised at a coffee morning run by the club.
Another presentation was made to Aidan Gleeson, the coach who helped the Ballyhoura girls reach the National Senior Debating final where they were runners up.
And the final presentation was to North Cork Dairy IFA Chairperson and past member of Glanworth Macra Mary Twomey Casey, who assisted in the coaching of the debating team for the national final.
