Annmarie hits right note for charity

At the Awards for Excellence ceremony, held in Mary Immaculate College, was Annmarie O'Riordan from Mallow, with Professor Eugene Wall, Acting President of MIC.

Annmarie received the award in recognition of her music achievements. She is a singer songwriter who worked as a musician before studying in MIC. She has toured throughout America, Canada, Europe and Ireland and her most recent album was recorded in 2012.

She has put her musical talent to use to raise money for various charities; she raised €25,000 for the Dunmanway Suite in Cork University Hospital as well as €1500 for the Irish Cancer Society.

These awards, which are now in their eight year, are supported equally by the MIC Foundation (through a kind donation from Denis Brosnan) and the MISU (Students' Union) and are given in recognition to students who demonstrate excellence in an area of endeavour, such as music, arts, sport etc.
