Air of celebration at Dromahane NS as new extension is opened
FORMER pupils from Dromahane National School returned to their old stomping ground last Friday for the official opening of the school's long awaited new extension.
There was an air of celebration at the school as the former alumni mingled with the current crop of pupils on what was a truly historic day for the village.
Former school principals Patsy O'Hanlon and John Joe Kavanagh were on hand to unveil a memorial plaque following the official opening of the new school building by Junior Education Minister Sean Sherlock.
The new extension is a most welcome addition to the facilities at the school, which has seen a dramatic increase in the number of pupils attending it over recent years.
Following the official ceremonies, the large crowd of former pupils, parents and past members of the Board of Management took the opportunity to take a stroll down memory lane by viewing a display of old photographs and roll books that had been put together for the occasion.
