Aileen Browne is appointed peace commissioner

Charleville local, Aileen Browne has been appointed a Peace Commissioner by Justice Minister Alan Shatter and, on receiving her Warrant of Appointment from the Minister, she said she "was honoured and delighted to accept the appointment".
Aileen Browne is the Mid-West Area Manager with the Irish Blood Transfusion Service and is very active within the Charleville Community. She is the current secretary of Charleville Tidy Towns Association and also secretary of Charleville Community Forum.
Speaking after accepting the nomination and receiving her warrant of appointment, she said "it was a privilege to accept this voluntary position."
Peace Commissioners are a discretionary appointment by the Minster for Justice. Their powers and duties consist primarily of taking statutory declarations, witnessing signatures on documents as required by various authorities and signing certificates and orders under various Legislative Acts.
It is an honorary position and a peace commissioner receives no remuneration or compensation from public funds. Peace commissioners are also not entitled to charge or receive, for their own benefit, any fee or compensation from members of the public. Aileen Browne can be contacted on 086-8145716.
