€100k stolen from house in Kanturk

THIEVES in Kanturk broke into a house in the town and made off with €100,000 in cash -- and the house was broken into a second time the following weekend.

The house is owned by a man in his 70s, who was not at home when €100,000 haul of cash was stolen.

However, shortly afterwards two men were charged in connection with the incident.

The two were arrested after gardai seized €50,000 from a hotel room safe in Cork after being called to deal with a number of unruly guests. Gardai also found €15,000 which had been hidden near a bus stop.

Just one week after the elderly man's house was broken into, it was subjected to a second raid. However, the thieves left empty handed on this occasion.
