A WAR of words has broken out between the mayor of Fermoy and the organisers of a poetry festival over the town council not granting funding to the poetry weekend.
Mayor Olive Corcoran (FF), pictured left, this week told The Corkman that she has sought legal advice following allegations made against her by an organiser behind The Fermoy International Poetry Festival on social media.
Meanwhile The Fermoy International Poetry Festival says it is "shocked and outraged" that an application they submitted for a grant from the town council was not considered during the local authority's budget meeting.
Cllr Corcoran said the neither she nor the Town Council received the application.
